LISC Responds to Foreclosure Crisis

With the mortgage and credit crisis pressuring many of the families and communities that we serve, LISC has been working with policymakers, funders and local practitioners to provide the information and resources they need to effectively address local challenges. LISC has also joined forces with the Center for Housing Policy, the Urban Institute and Knowledgeplex to launch the Foreclosure Response Project. With its combined resources, the Project will be able to provide valuable foreclosure data, case studies, and best practices to assist communities across the country. NYC Acquisition Fund Receives Innovations in American Government Award from Harvard's Ash Institute

The Ash Institute for Democratic Governance and Innovation at Harvard Kennedy School announced the New York City Acquisition Fund as a 2008 Innovations in American Government Awards winner. LISC partnered with the City of New York, Enterprise and a number of banks and philanthropic foundations to establish the NYC Acquisition Loan Fund, with the goal of enabling non-profit and small for-profit developers to acquire sites for affordable housing in the private market.
